Chengdu - Dujiangyan - Qingchengshan Train

Currently, there are nearly 28 high speed trains running from Chengdu to Dujiangyan and 23 from Dujiangyan to Chengdu with travel time of 18 - 47 minutes and ticket price of CNY 10 (USD 1). Most of them run further to / from Qingchengshan with duration of 23min to 1h27m and ticket fare of CNY 10 (USD 1). They have become the first choices for visitors to Dujiangyan Irrigation System and Mount Qingcheng.

Passengers can also take coaches to travel between Chengdu and Dujiangyan. Duration differs between 1 and 2 hours because of different operation stations. Ticket fare varies from CNY15 to CNY 35 per person. Coaches between Chengdu and Qingchengshan take about 1.5 - 2 hours. Ticket fare is around CNY30 per person.

In Chengdu, they are mostly operated at Xipu Railway Station. In Dujiangyan, passengers can get on and off at Dujiangyan Station.

How to Get to Xipu Railway Station

About 18 kilometers (11 miles) northwest from the city center, Xipu Railway Station can be easily reached by subway line 2, 6, and city buses from other places in the city. The major city buses include 116, 119, 231, 708, 710a, 710, 720, 723, P04, P07, P17, P20, P21, P22, P29, P37, P40, P101, G173, and G174.

How to get to Dujiangyan Irrigation System from Dujiangyan Railway Station

1. After going out of the station, passengers can take Dujiangyan bus no. 4, 6, 9, or 32 to the Dujiangyan Scenic Area directly. Duration is about 40 minutes and ticket fare is CNY2 per person.
2. Take a taxi to the scenic area directly. Duration is about 20 minutes and ticket fare is CNY20.

How to get to Mount Qingcheng from Qingchengshan Railway Station

1. Take bus no. Dujiangyan 101 or 102 to Hexiang Shanzhuang first. Duration is approximately 50 minutes. And then walk about 2.1 kilometers (2,190 yards) to the front mount.
2. Take a taxi to the ticket office of the front mount directly. It takes about 20 minutes and costs CNY30 or so.
3. Take a taxi to the ticket office of the rear mount. Duration is around 35 minutes and ticket fare is about CNY40.

You can take a high speed train directly, which takes only 7 minutes and CNY 5 per person.

Buying tickets in advance

Would you recommend buying tickets (both from Chengdu to Qing cheng shan and return) in advance? I ask because I wouldn't know how long I would be at QCS and may prefer to buy a return ticket at QCS station when I am ready to return

What is soft seat? Is soft seat the same as second or first class seat?

For this trip between Chengdu and Dujiangyan, soft seat looks like first class seats on high speed trains. There are two seats on each side but the seats are not as comfortable and wide as first class seats. However, the seats are good enough for a 20min's trip. Hope this information can help you.

You may take metro line 10 at airport to Taipingyuan and then change to line 7 to Yipintianxia, then change to line 2 to Tianhelu or Xipu. The distance from Tianhelu and Xipu to the campus is almost the same. You can then use taxi to reach the campus.
