DMZ Tour
DMZ is a demilitarized zone during the Vietnam War near north latitude 17 degrees. In
the morning, your
guide will escort you to travel along the No.1 Road to visit the zone. At
first, travel northward for about 75 kilometers (47 miles) by car to Ben Hai River,
the division line of South Vietnam and North Vietnam during the war from 1954
to 1972. The Hien Luong Bridge over it was painted into red and yellow two
colors. Next, keep traveling northward
to Vinh Moc Tunnels. During the war, about 300 villagers lived inside for about
2 and a half years. The tunnel has three levels and is well equipped with
living facilities.
In the afternoon, we will travel along the No.9 Road, which leads to the mountainous areas. Along it, Rock Pile was an observation post of America, which was used to take over the action of Viet Cong during the war. Dak Rong is not only a road bridge, but also the starting point of No.15 Road, a main branch of Ho Chi Minh Trail. The final stop today will be the Ta Co Base of US troops. Ta Co Base was the main battlefield of the bloody Battle of Khe Sanh which lasted for 77 days. After today's visit, we will go back to Hue.
