Day 3 Hohhot
The private car will send you back to Hohhot to continue the tour to Zhaojun Temple, the Five-pagoda Temple and Dazhao Temple. Covered by green grass, Zhaojun Tomb is also called the Green Tomb. It is one of the existing largest tombs of Han Dynasty with a history of over 2,000 years. As one of the four beauties in ancient China, Zhaojun has volunteered to marry the Hun's Khan in return for a 60-year's peaceful friendship between Han nationality and Hun nationality. The Five-Pagoda Temple is named so because there are five small dagobas on the pedestal of the pagoda. It is the landmark construction of the city. The highlight to see here is the Mongolian Astronomical Map on the north wall of the pagoda, which is the only found astronomical map labeled in Mongolia so far in the world. Dazhao Temple is the oldest and largest Buddhist temple in Hohhot which was constructed in 1580 during the Ming Dynasty. It is also called the Silver Buddha Temple because a silver statue of Sakyamuni is enshrined there. Besides, this temple is also noted for the other two treasures. One is the two lively carved dragons on the golden pillars on the two sides of the silver statue, and the other one is the vivid fresco on the walls of the halls.
