South Gansu and Jiuzhaigou Valley

When you arrive in Lanzhou by air or train, our guide and driver will meet you at the airport or railway station, and then bring you to the hotel for a rest stop. 

Your private Lanzhou to Jiuzhaigou tour starts with a visit to the Statue of Mother Yellow River, the icon of the city. Then we will proceed to the Waterwheel Garden to see various kinds of waterwheels. After that, we visit the White Pagoda Park. We will climb uphill to pay respects at the renowned White Pagoda and also enjoy the panoramic view of the city. Later, we will stroll along Zhongshan Bridge straddling the turbulent Yellow River. Then you will return to the hotel for the night.

After breakfast, we will take a comfortable vehicle to Liujiaxia Dam, located 75 kilometers (45 miles) from downtown Lanzhou. Upon arrival, our guide will accompany you on a yacht bound for Bingling Thousand Buddha Caves. It is famous for numerous grotto clusters engraved on steep cliffs, sheltering thousands of Buddha statues from the Northern Wei Dynasty (386 - 534) to Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). Most carving works depict Buddhist and layman stories. 

After taking the yacht back to Liujiaxia, we will hop on our private car to Xiahe, and check into a local hotel.

This morning your Lanzhou to Jiuzhaigou tour starts from Labrang Monastery, a large Tibetan monastery complex ranking only second to the Potala Palace in Lhasa by scale. As a top Tibetan Buddhist School in China, the monastery is characterized by its delicate architectures and rich collections of Buddhist sutras. You can stroll around to take in the splendor of the monastery, but no photos please! 

Then we will move on to the next stop of 8 days Lanzhou tour to Jiuzhaigou, Ganjia Grassland. The alpine grassland is a natural pasture, embraced by rolling hills, resembling a giant green carpet. It is dotted with herds of yaks and flowers in summer. Relaxing down there, you can totally lose yourselves. Today we visit a local Tibetan family to round up the day. Then you will go back to the hotel.

Today we will bound for Langmusi, located on the border of Sichuan and Gansu provinces. You may make a midway stop at Hezuo City, to see the well-known Milariba Buddha Pavilion. It is a nine-story Tibetan Buddhist monastery, which enshrines masters of different Tibetan Buddhist Schools and boasts dazzling murals, brightly-colored paintings, Thangkas and sculptures. 

Our journey continues to Langmusi, which is about three hours' drive away. Do not get intimidated as the breathtaking scenery along the way breaks up the monotony. Upon arrival, our guide will help you to get lodged in a local hotel.

We will spend a half day on exploring Langmusi Monastery in the town, which is made up of two parts: Sertri Gompa (Dacang Langmusi) in Gansu and Kirti Gompa (Ge'erdisi) in Sichuan. It is a perfect place to get a feel for authentic Tibetan culture.

After the trek, we will hop on our vehicle to Songpan County, via Ruoergai Grassland and Chuanzhusi Town. It rides for 6 hours, but the views are fantastic. Upon arrival, our guide will help you to check into the hotel.

In the morning, we will set out on a trip to the dream-like Huanglong Scenic Area featuring layered and colorful calcium ponds. The main attraction, Multi-Colored Ponds, resembles a cluster of blue emerald. Autumn leaves turn red and golden, showering the ponds in bright colors. Huanglong has stunning shoals, lakes, waterfalls, brooks, snow-clad mountains and virgin forests.

Afterwards, our guide will take you to a hotel near the Jiuzhai Valley. Prepare for the next day's adventure in Jiuzhai!

A full day's tour in Jiuzhai Valley is ahead. Famous for nine Tibetan villages, the scenic area boasts snow-capped peaks, as well as enchanting alpine lakes, mirror-like ponds, and swirling waterfalls hidden in the verdant forests. In our guide's company, you will go along plank walkways to admire the Multi-Colored Lake, Nuorilang Waterfalls, Long Lake and Pearl Shoal. When the day's tour is over, our guide will bring you to the hotel.

Your amazing 8-day Lanzhou tour package to Jiuzhaigou comes to an end today. In the morning, you are brought to Jiuhuang Airport for your departure flight. There are direct flights bound for Chengdu, Xian, Chongqing, Beijing and Shanghai.
