 Traveling for such a long-distance journey may be boring and tiring. In order to have a more comfortable trip, passengers are advised to choose the overnight sleeper trains such as K4692, K656, K1315, and K1674/K1673, which depart in the evening and arrive in the next morning. In this case, one-night accommodation fee and the day time can be saved.
 Xi'an - Hohhot High Speed Railway is made up of Xi'an – Beijing and Beijing – Hohhot High Speed Railways.

Xi'an - Beijing: This section has operated for a long time, reducing the travel time between the two cities to 4.5 - 6 hours.

Beijing – Hohhot: This section is under construction now and will open in 2019 by then duration between the two cities will be greatly shortened to 3 hours.

When the whole line is put into use, Xi'an and Hohhot can be reached by bullet trains. Duration is 7.5 - 9 hours.
 Direct flights are operated between the two cities. Duration is about 2 hours. Full price for an economy class is CNY 980, while discounts are offered in low season when the ticket fare can be low to CNY 250. Flight can be a more preferable choice then, especially for those who are pressed for time.

The overnight sleeper trains are also competitive. On one hand, railway stations are usually with easier access compared with airports. On the other hand, ticket fare of trains is fixed and a rail trip is cheap in most cases. A sleeper can assure passengers a good rest onboard.
